Henry Ober et al. v. Henry Talbert. Petition for Freedom
To the Honbl the Judges of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia for the County of Washington
The several petitions of Henry Ober, William Ober, Eemily Ober Francis Washington Ober Thomas Ober and David Ober respectfully & Humbly sets forth by your Honors that they are persons of colour who are entitled to their freedom and who are now held in bondage a state of slavery by one Henry Talbert contrary to law and to your petitioners just rights and now about threatning to be sold in slavery out of this District to some foreign purchasors
Whereupon they severally pray your honors to grant them such relief as they may be lawfully entitled to and such process of your honorable court against the said Henry Talbert as usual in such cases to compel the attendance of the said Henry Talbert in your Honorable court to answer this petition and to enter the usual security & recgnizance not to remove your petitioners or any other beyond the jurisdiction of your Honble Court and as in duty bound they will every pray &c
