Rose v. James Kennedy Jr. Bond

 

Know all Men by these presents that we James Keneday and James Patten, are held and firmly bound unto Charles Turner Town Sergeant, in the full and Just sum of Five Hundred dollars to the payment whereof well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of us our and each of our Heirs, Exors. & Admors. Jointly and severally firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals & dated this 7 day of Sepr. 1799.

Whereas Negroes Rose and her two children have obtained leave from the Court of Hustings in Alexandria, to institute a suit in forma pauperis in said Court, (against the above James Keneday for their freedom, & the said Court have ordered the said Negroes to remain in the custody of the said Sergeant, until the said James Keneday shall give Security to have the said Negroes forthcoming to answer the Judgment of the Court. Now the Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above bound James Keneday shall have the said Negro Rose & her two Children forthcoming to answer the Judgment of the Court agreeable to the act of assembly in that case made & provided, then the above Obligation to be void or else to remain in full force & Virtue.
