George v. Gabriel Adams. Summons of Gabriel Adams

 

District of Columbia—To wit:
The United States of America,
To the Marshal of the District of Columbia, Greeting:

We command you that you taketo summon Gabriel Adams if he shall be found within the county of Washington, in your said district, and safely keep so that, you have he be and appear bod before the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia, to be held for the county aforesaid, at the City of Washington, on the first Monday of May next, to answer the Petition of unto Negro George in the said Court exhibited against him the said Adams for the freedom of the said Negro George

Hereof fail not at your peril, and have you then and there is writ.

Witness Wm Cranch esquire, chief judge of our said court at the City of Washington, the 11th day of January Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and twenty six
