To the Honorable the Judges of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia for the County of Washington
The Petition of negro Rachel & her infant children Eliza and Jane humbly sheweth that your said Petitioners are entitled to their freedom and are unjustly held in bondage & claimed as Slaves by a certain Henry Jarvis of Washington County aforesaid, all which your said Petitioners are ready to prove to your Honors. Wherefore your said Petitioners pray that subpoena may issue to the said Henry Jarvis directed commanding him to be & appear before your Honors & answer the said premisses & that your Honors may grant such other r relief to your Petitioners as to your Honors may seem right & according to law. & your Petitioners will pray &ca &ca
