The United States of America,
To the Marshal of the District of Columbia, Greeting:
You are hereby commanded to summon Gabriel Duvall Late of Washington County if he shall be found in the county of Washington, that (all excuses set aside) him be and appear before the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia, to be held for the county of Washington, in the city of Washington, on the first Monday of December next, to testify on the part of Answer the Petition of Thomas Butler & Sarah his wife Matilda Airy Reason & Sally Children of said Thomas & Sarah, & Liddy & Eliza their grand children by their grand father and next friend, exhibited in said Court against him for freedom
Hereof fail not at your peril; and have you then and there this precept.
Witness William Cranch Esquire, Chief Judge of the said Court.
Issued the 2n day of June 1828.
