The United States of America to the Marshal of the District of Columbia greeting
You are hearby commanded to summon Mrs Janet Lingan that all excuses and delays set aside she be and appear before the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia for the County of Washington, on the fourth Monday of December next, to answer the Petition of Jack Garretson, Richard Luckett, Richard Johnson and Rachel Garretson exhibited in the said Court against against her for their freedom. Hereof fail not at your peril and hence you then and there this Writ. Witness the Hon Wm Cranch chief Judge of the said Court the 14th day of June Anno Domini 1817.
