Cordelia Wilson v. Brown. Petition for Freedom
The petition of Cordelia Wilson a black woman humbly sheweth to your Honors that the said Cordelia is entitled to her freedom and is unlawfully held in bondage and slavery by a certain Brown now in Washington County aforesaid and kept in the house of a certain George Miller— Your Petitioner further states that she verily believes that the said Brown is about to take and carry her away by force from this District out of the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court. Wherefore she prays your Honors to grant her as well the United States writ of Subpoena & also the United States writ of Injunction enjoining and prohibiting the said Brown & George Miller their & each other agents and servants from taking and conveying away your Petitioner out of this Country or removing her out of the jurisdiction of this Court untill the further order of your Honors in the premises.
