The United States of America to the Marshal of the District of Columbia— greeting

You are hereby commended to summon James Clerklee if he shall be found in the County of Washington, that all excuses and delays set aside, he be and appear before the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia to be held for the County of Washington at the City of Washington, on the first Monday of June next to answer the Petition of Sarah Davis for her freedom in the said Court exhibited against him. Hereof fail not at your peril, and have you then and there this Writ. Witness the hon: Wm Cranch Esquire chief Judge of our said Court, this 13th day of April 1809.
