William Henry Ross v. Thomas Triplett. Statement of Facts

 

The mother of the plaintiff was brought from the State of Maryland about the month of June 1812 to the town of Alexandria. Where she continued afterwards constantly to reside. Shortly after twelve months had elapsed from the time she had been so brought to the town of Alexandria she commenced a suit, & obtained her freedom, by the judgment of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia, in consequence of having been contrary to law, brought into the town of Alexandria & kept therein for one whole year. The plaintiff William Henry was born about February or March 1813 several months after his mother had been brought to the town of Alexandria, but before she had continued therein 12 months. & the sd. plaintiff has at all times since his birth continued & been kept within the said town of Alexandria.
