September the 11th 1806 Mr. Wm Browgdin of Mayryland Maryland Commited a negro man to my Care named James & he Continued in my Care untill he brought Sute for his freedom. his Master Came to Alexandria about Eight months after he left him with me and wanted to sell him to a Negro trader but the trader thought him two old & would not purchase him.
