Fanny Smith v. Joseph Thornton. Complaint

Fanny Smith complains of Joseph Thornton in custody of the Marshall for that the said Joseph on the       day of       in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and       with force and arms to wit with swords clubs and staves upon her the said Fanny at Alexandria in the District of Columbia aforesaid did make an assault and did then and there beat wound and imprison and evil treat her and her the said Fanny so imprisoned against the will of the said Fanny without any reasonable cause and against the laws of the United States for a long time To wit for the space of       kept and detained and other injuries to her then and there did against the peace and dignity of the United States and to the damage of the said Fanny

and therefore she brings her suit &c
