Charles v. Henry Nicholson. Affidavit of Matthew Sexsmith
Personally Appeared before me one of the Justices of the Peace for said County Matthew Sexsmith who being duly sworn on the Holy Evanjelist of Almighty God deposeth and saith That he well recollects Negroe Charles being the Property of Henry Nicholson, and that he the said Nicholson Manumitted said Charles by an instrument of Writing to Which he subscribed his name as a Witness, and also that he recollects that said Charles Indented himself to said Nicholson to serve for a term of years by Indenture now Present, to which this deponant also subscribed his name as a Witness.
And further this deponent saith not
