To the Honorable the Judges of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia for the County of Washington

Your Petitioner Moses Lucket respectfully represents to your Honorable Court that he is entitled to his freedom, but that he is illegally and unjustly held in servitude by one Charles Scrivner whom your petitioner prays may be summoned to answer to this Petition:

That the liberty to which he is entitled may be adjudged to him and he be discharged from the illegal restraint of said Charles Scrivner

And your petitioner will &c
