Ellen Johnson v. Morris Adler and Rachel Johnson v. Morris Adler. Petitioner's Jury Instructions (A)
If from the Evidence the Jury shall find that Rachel the Petitioner was the property of the said Thomas Turner in his life time, then sending[?], and holding the said Petitioner as his slave in the District of Columbia, that the said Thomas Turner removed to, and became a citizen of the state of Maryland, and afterwards and in or about the year 1841 imported the said Rachel into the said state of Maryland with intent for her to reside there, and afterwards with the permission of said Thomas Turner the said Petitioner came to the District of Columbia then upon the whole evidence aforesaid the Court en if the same is believed by the Jury, the said Rachel is entitled to her freedom.
