To the Hon. the Judges of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia for the County of Washington
The petition of Parmelia Adams and Sylvester Isabella & Truelove Adams children of the said Parmelia, respectfully represent that they are held in unlawful bondage by one James H. Holmes, a resident of the City of Washington D. C. and they pray that your Honors may order a subpoena to be issued against the said Holmes, and that relief may be afforded to your petitioners & as in duty bound &c
