To the Honorable the Judges of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia, for the County of Washington.
The Petition of Jesse Wilson Nelson humbly sheweth, that your Petitioner is free, and is held in bondage and claimed as a slave by one John Cornell a resident of said County, and he prays that his rights may be enquired of by your Honors according to Law.
