To the honorable the Judges of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia for the County of Washington
The humble Petition of Reazin Overton sheweth, that your Petitioner is detained in slavery by Collimore Pope, Fielder Pope, and Nelly Jenkins and as your petitioner is entitled to his freedom having lineally descended in the female line from a free woman, he prays that process may be awarded to compel the appearance of the said Collimore Pope, Fielder Pope and Nelly Jenkins to answer his complaint &c.
