Sir,
The Negro family styling themselves Thomas, Petitioned against the Stone family of Charles County, pending the Petition the various Proprieters contributed to a fee, you by note long since paid, contributed your part, which state I think is among my old papers at my seat near George Town. I think at the time of the Tryal you lived in Virginia, and I have no recollection of any personal intercourse with you. At the Tryal there was as understanding with their Counsel (Thos Buchanan) I think, and I believe an agreement in writing, that the Verdict on the cause tried should conclude all cases. The Tryal was long, all conducted, and the Verdict against the Petitioners
