To the Honorable the Judges of the Circuit Court of the District of the District of Columbia for the County of Washington
The petition of Margaret Lewis and her three infant Children to wit. Andrew Lewis, James Lewis and Margaret Lewis by the Margaret Lewis, their next friend, respectfully represent to your Honors that they are entitled to their freedom, and are unjustly and illegally held in bondage by Bridget McLochlin McLaughlin and James Sheehey
They therefore pray your Honors to enquire into the matter, and grant such relief in the premises as to your Honors may seem proper and your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray &c.
