O Say Can You See

The Petition of Negro Isaac respectfully sheweth that your petitioner is held in bondage & claimed by Alexander Talbot of said County as a slave, Altho' your petitioner is justly entitled to his freedom. Your petitioner therefore, prays that your Honors will take his case into consideration and that a subpoena may issue commanding the said Alexander to appear &c &c & grant him such further & other process & relief as to your Honors may seem meet & his case requires and as in duty bound he will ever pray.
