To the Honorable the judges of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia for the County of Washington.
The Petition of Milly Ann Robertson and of Henrietta Robertson, [ink] her infant under 21 years of age by the said Milly Ann, her mother & next friend, humbly represents, that your petitioners are now held in bondage and claimed as his slaves by one Alexander Waugh. That your petitioners are entitled to their freedom & therefor pray your Honors to grant unto them the United States writ of subpoena to be directed to the said War & such other relief in the premises as your Honors may deem just & proper &c
