To the Honorable the Judge of the Circuit Court of the district of Columbia for the County of Washington.
The petition of Jane (negress) represents unto your honors that your petitioner is entitled to her freedom; and that she is held in bondage slavery by one Edmund E Richards of the said County, and prays that a subpoena may issue to said Richards, and his rights be enquired into by your honors.
