This is to Certify that I have brought from Virginia, for my own use & not for Sale, the following named slaves. Vizt Henry, George & Sarah, which slaves I acquired by marriage, with my wife.

I have brought from Virginia, not for Sale, but for my own use a negro Boy, a Slave for life, named Frank aged about ten years which Boy I possess in consequence of my marriage.

In these cases it is agreed that Mr Benjamin F Rittenhorn will prove that the above named Frank was brought from Virginia in the fall of 1828 or the winter of 1828 and 1829 that he has heard[?] in the family of Dr Laurie that Frank, Henry & Sarah are brothers & sister by that Henry & Sarah either came from Virginia in or Alexandria County D.C. that he had has never heard known of Dr Laurie's owning having any interest in any other slaves of the names of Henry, Sarah and Frank other than the slaves above named since he has become acquainted in the family of Dr Laurie which was about eleven years ago this statement is to read[?] at the Trials of the cases of freedom of Henry Sarah & Frank against Dr James C Hall & Dr James Laurie and that he has also heard in the [illegible] family that the said slaves were a part of the distributive share of Mrs Laurie of her fathers estate

In the above cases it is agreed that Benjamin F Rittenhouse will prove that he first new Frank the Petitioner in the family of Dr James Laurie one of the Defts in the fall of 1828 or the winter of 1828 and 1829 That the said B F Rittenhouse has been acquainted with the defendants for the last eleven years and during that period has never known the Defendants to have any interest in any other slaves of the name of Henry Frank & Sarah that the Petitioners above named. This agreed that the above shall be read in evidence as if the witnesses[?] were in Court & gave his testimony in person.
