To the Honorable the Judges of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia for the County of Washington
The Petition of Henry Gibson otherwise called Henry a coloured man humbly complaining sheweth unto your Honors that your Petitioner is entitled to his freedom and is unjustly held in bondage by James C Hall, James Laurie and his wife Elizabeth B Laurie who claim your Petitioner as their slave Wherefore your Petitioner prays your Honors to grant a subpoena to the said James C Hall, James Laurie and his wife Elizabeth B Laurie directed and such relief in the premises as may be according to law
