To the Honorable the Judges of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia for the County of Washington
The Petition of Hannah Stewart otherwise called Hannah a coloured woman humbly complaining sheweth unto your Honors that your Petitioner is entitled to freedom and is unjustly held in bondage by Allison Nailor who claims your Petitioner as his slave Wherefore your Petitioner prays your Honors to grant a subpoena to the said Allison Nailor directed and such relief in the premises as may be according to law
