To the Honorable Judges of the Circuit Court for Washington County, Di the District of Columbia
The petition of Gill Litchworth, a man of color, humbly sheweth, that he is entitled to his freedom, but is now held in slavery by a certain Zadock Wilson laying an insufficient claim to your petitioner. Wherefore you petitioner prays the judgment of your Honors that he be released from further bondage. And your petitioner, as in duty bound, will ever pray and so forth.
