Sabret Scott v. Ben. Summons of Ben
To Negro Ben Greeting: You are hereby acted & admonished to be and appear at a Supreme Court of the United States, to be holden [torn page] the City of Washington on the first monday in August February next permanent [torn page] a writ of error filed in the Clerk's office of the Circuit Court of the United States for the District of Columbia in the County of Washington wherein Negro Ben is Petitioner & Sabritt Scott is Defendant, to shew cause if any there be why the Judgment rendered against the said Sabrett Scott as in the said writ of error mentioned should not be reversed, & why the error complained of should not be corrected & why speedy Justice should not be done to the parties in that behalf

On the 13th day of January 1808 John A Wilson personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for the County of Washington District of Columbia & made oath on the holy evangels of almighty god that he the deponent served the within citation on the within named Negro Ben on the twelfth day of instant and left with said Negro Ben[?] a true copy of the same at the time afsd.
