Moses Rustin v. John E. Stromatt. Bond

 

Know all men by these presents that We John E Stromatt and John T. B. Perry are held and firmly bound unto the United States of America in the just and full sum of three hundred & fifty dollars to be paid to the said United States of America for the true payment whereof, we bind ourselves jointly and severally, our joint and several heirs, Executors and administrators, firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals, and dated this 20th day of December in the year one thousand eight hundred & forty five.

The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bound John E Stromatt hath appeared before me, pursuant to Summons, to Answer the Complaint of Moses Rustin, a Negro Man, now in possession of the said John E Stromatt for illigally detaining the said Moses Rusin in slavery. Now if the above bound John E Stromatt shall suffer the said Moses Rustin to appear at the next Circuit Court held for the County of Alexandria in the District of Columbia, for the purpose of petitioning the said Court, to be allowed to sue therein, in the form of a poor person, for the recovery of his freedom   then this obligation to be void, else to remain in full force.
