Phillis Shiner v. Levi Pumphrey. Complaint

 

Alexandria County, Sc.

Phillis Skinner, who sues for herself & her infant children Ann, Harriet & Mary Ann, complains of Levi Pumphrey, in custody &c of a plea of Trespass for this, to wit, that the said deft. on the       day of       at the County aforesaid, with force & arms, to wit with clubs, knives, sticks, & fists, made an assault upon the plffs & them her the said plffs did then & there beat, wound, & ill-treat & other injuries to the plffs then & there did against the peace of the U. States & to the damage of the plffs.

& therefore she sues &c.

1833. May T. 19 day. On petition leave given to sue in forma pauperis, of F. S. Key assigned counsel; & ordered that said Pumphrey give bond & security to U.S. (to be approved by the Marshal) in penalty $300, conditioned to permit &c the Petitioners to remain in custody until said bond be executed
