Joseph A. Green v. Henry Green. Petition for Freedom

 

To the Hon" the Judges of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia.

The petition of Joseph A Green a free man of colour of Washington City in said District respectfully represents that he [illegible] is claimed as a slave by his father one Henry Green a free man of colour of Charles County state of Maryland and by him held in custody.

And in view of the premises your petitioner prays that his case may be enquired of by your Honours, that his freedom may be established by the judgement of your Honours. And that your Honours will furnish[?] him such other and further relief in the premises as his case may require; and as is duty bound he will ever pray &c
