Loudon v. Charles Scott. Bill of Sale

 

Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Contee of Prince Georges County and State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of one hundred & twenty five pounds Current Money of Maryland to me in hand paid by Charles Scott of said County and State at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Thomas Contee do hereby acknowledge & have granted bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said Charles Scott his heirs Executors administrators and assigns a negro man Slave for life named Loudon about       years of age. To have and to hold the said Negro Man to the said Charles Scott his heirs Executors administrators and assigns and I the said Thomas Contee for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the said negro man unto the said Charles Scott Jr. his heirs Executors and assigns against me the said Thomas Contee my heirs Executors and Administrators and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of September Eighteen hundred

Received the 3rd day of Sepr. 1800 of Charles Scott Junr. the sum of one hundred and twenty four pounds Current Money of Maryland being the full consideration above mentioned. Witness my hand

Prince Georges County State of Maryland to wit

On the 3rd day of September Eighteen hundred came the above named Thomas Contee before me the Subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for said County and acknowledged the above Instrument of writing to be his act and Deed and the negro man slave for life therein mentioned to be the right and property of the above named Charles Scott Jur. his heirs Executors administrators and assigns.
