The United States of America,

To the Marshal of the District of Columbia, Greeting:

You are hereby commanded to summon Susan Armistead is she shall be found in the County of Washington, that she be and appear in the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia, at rules to be held for the County of Washington, at the City of Washington, on the first 3d Monday of October next, to answer the bill of complaint of Petition for freedom of Harriet Bell by her next friend Daniel Bell filed in Court here against her and others.

Hereof fail not at your peril; and have you then and there this precept.

Witness the Hon. W. Cranch, Chief Judge of the said Court.

Issued the first day of July 1846.
