Trueman Giberson v. John Dulin. Hiring Agreement of Trueman Giberson

 

Washington Cty April 8 1843

This agreement made this 8th day of April 1843 between CL & R Coltman of the one part and John Dooley of the other part

Witness that the said John Doolen hereby Hires to the said CL & R. Coltman his negro man Trueman Giberson at the rate of sixteen Dollars & fifty cents per month (all less time to be deducted) the hire to be paid months to commence from the 15 day of April & terminate on the 15 day of October.

Allso to hire his said man Trueman from the 15 day of October to the 15 day of April 1844 to the said CL & R Coltman at the rate of eight dollars per month, sickness & unnecessary absences only to be deducted wages to be paid monthly.

Note. The meaning of "unnecessary absence" is should Trueman leave the employment of C.L & R. Coltman between the 15th of October 1843 and the 15th of April 1844 without their consent or knowledge then the time to be deducted
