To the Honorable the Judges of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia for the County of Washington
The Petition of Nancy Robertson humbly represents, that your petitioner is held in bondage & claimed as a slave by one Alexander Waugh. That she is entitled to her freedom and therefore prays your Honors to grant unto her the United States writ of subpoena, to be directed to the said War and such other relief in the premises as your Honors may deem just & proper &c.
