To the Honorable the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia for the County of Washington.
The Petition of George Crowner & David Over humbly sheweth that your Petitioners are free and were born of a free white woman and are unjustly held in bondage by a certain Peggy Barnes of Washington County.
Wherefore they pray that spba may be issued to said Barnes and that she may be compelled to appear and answer hereto, and that they may be discharged from their service and adjudged free according to law.
